Forecast
A forecast widget that follows you to every computer
The Forecast widget keeps the next 3, 5 or 7 days on your screen for the place you pick: each day's high and low, the sky, and how much rain to expect. It sits on your DashSuey board, so it looks the same on every computer you sign in on.
- Needs
- A place. No key and no weather account.
- Reads from
- MET Norway's forecast, through DashSuey
- Updates
- Every half hour while your board is showing
On your board, beside the sky and the day
The forecast next to the weather now, sunrise and sunset, and a clock. The board is saved to your account, so it looks the same on every computer you sign in on.

What it shows
- Each day
- The high and the low, the sky as an icon, and how much rain and melted snow to expect.
- Days
- 1, 3, 5 or 7. A new widget shows 5. Today counts as the first.
- Units
- °F with inches of rain, or °C with millimeters.
- Place
- A town you type, or your board's place until you do. Each Forecast widget can have its own.
- Freshness
- A new forecast every half hour while your board is showing, and as soon as you come back to the tab.
- Where it lives
- On your board, saved to your account, and the same on every computer you sign in on.
Where the forecast comes from
From MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute's forecast service, fetched by DashSuey and credited on the widget. There's no key and no weather account.
Today's column counts what is left of today, so in the evening its high can be the evening's.
What it does not do
- It doesn't show the chance of rain, only how much to expect.
- It goes up to 7 days, not 10 or 14.
- It has no hourly forecast. The Weather widget shows the wind and humidity now.
Questions people ask
How do I get a weather forecast on my desktop?
Add the Forecast widget to your DashSuey board and keep the board open in a browser tab. The next few days are there in one row: high, low, the sky and how much rain to expect. There's nothing to install and no extension.
How do I add a weather forecast widget?
Pick Forecast from the Weather & sky group. Type a place, or leave it empty to use your board's place. Then choose °F or °C and 1, 3, 5 or 7 days.
How many days can it show?
Up to 7: pick 1, 3, 5 or 7. A new widget shows 5. It does not show 10 or 14 days.
Does it show the chance of rain?
No. It shows how much rain and melted snow to expect each day, in inches with °F or millimeters with °C.
Do I need an API key?
No. The forecast comes from MET Norway through DashSuey's own weather service, so there's nothing to sign up for and no key to paste.
Where does the forecast come from?
From MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute's forecast service, credited as "Based on data from MET Norway (CC BY 4.0)".
Can it show the forecast for where I am?
Leave the place empty and it uses your board's place; until you set one, that is a place worked out from your connection, which can be wrong, so typing your town is better. Each Forecast widget can have its own place, so home and somewhere you're going can sit side by side.
Will it look the same on my other computers?
Yes. The place, the units and the number of days are saved to your DashSuey account with the rest of your board, so they are there on every computer you sign in on.
Can it show wind, humidity or the hourly forecast?
Not in the Forecast. The Weather widget shows the current wind and humidity beside it; there is no hourly forecast.
