Year Dots
The year in dots, one per day
Year Dots draws the whole year as a grid, one dot per day. The days behind you are filled in, today has a ring, and the rest are still to come. It sits on your DashSuey board and moves to the next day on its own.
- Needs
- Nothing. It has no settings.
- Reads from
- Your computer's own clock
- Updates
- At your midnight, on its own
On your board, next to the rest of your day
The year in dots beside a clock, today's date and a countdown to Friday evening. The board is saved to your account, so the year is there on every computer you sign in on.

What it shows
- One dot per day
- 365 dots, or 366 in a leap year, read left to right and top to bottom.
- Past, today, to come
- The days gone are filled in green. Today is lighter, with a ring. The days ahead are faint.
- Day and percent
- The strip at the top shows the year, the day number and how much of the year has gone, counting today.
- Any size
- The grid refits to the tile, from a small square to a tall strip.
- Settings
- None. It always shows the current year.
- Where it lives
- On your board, saved to your account, and the same on every computer you sign in on.
Where the day comes from
Year Dots counts days on your own computer's clock, in your own time zone, so the day turns over at your midnight wherever you are. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Today counts as its own day. The day number and the percent include it, and the filled dots are the days before it. Sites that count the year disagree about today; the ring settles it at a glance.
What it does not do
- It shows one year, the current one. For dates of your own, Count Down's dots mode draws the time between two of them.
- It doesn't print how many days are left. They're the faint dots, and the line under the widget at the top of this page counts them.
- You can't mark, color or write on a day. It follows the calendar, not you.
- There's no phone version. It is a widget on a web page.
Questions people ask
What day of the year is it today?
The line under the widget at the top of this page says, worked out from your computer's clock. January 1 is day 1. On your board, the widget shows the day number in its top strip.
How much of the year has passed?
The widget divides the day number by the days in the year, counting today, and rounds to a whole percent. It's in the top strip, next to the day number. The filled dots are the days before today.
How many days are left in the year?
They're the faint dots after the ringed one. The widget doesn't print the count, but the line under it at the top of this page does, not counting today.
Does today count as passed?
The widget draws today as its own dot, ringed, between the days that are gone and the days to come. The day number and the percent count today. The filled dots do not.
What is a year in dots?
A picture of the whole year as a grid of dots, one per day, with the days gone by filled in. It caught on as a phone wallpaper in 2026. Year Dots draws the same grid as a widget on your DashSuey board, for your computer rather than your phone.
Is there a year progress widget for my computer?
Year Dots runs in your browser as part of your DashSuey board, so it works the same on Windows, a Mac or a Chromebook, with nothing to install. There's no phone app.
Can I show a different year, or my own dates?
Not with Year Dots. It has no settings and always shows the current year. For the time between two dates of your own, use Count Down in dots mode, which draws the weeks, months or years between them.
Does it move to the next day on its own?
Yes. It checks the clock every minute, so a board left open overnight shows the new day in the morning.
