The Date widget keeps today's date on your screen, with the weekday above it, written short, medium, long or full in your browser's language or one you pick. It sits on your DashSuey board, so it looks the same on every computer you sign in on.

What you can set
- Format
- Short, Medium, Long or Full, each the way the chosen language writes it. Long is where a new widget starts.
- Language
- Your browser's own, or one you pick by language and region, with its own month names, word order and digits. Only languages your browser can write a date in are offered.
- Day of the week
- Above the date, on by default. Full writes the weekday into the date itself, so the switch only shows for the other three.
- Where it lives
- On your board, saved to your account, and the same on every computer you sign in on.
Where the date comes from
Your computer's own clock and time zone, so a laptop in Tokyo shows Tokyo's date and the day turns over at your midnight. Nothing is sent anywhere.
The words and the order come from your browser's own language data, the same data it uses to write dates everywhere else.
What it does not do
- It doesn't show the time. The Clock sits beside it.
- It has no month calendar, events or holidays.
- It writes the calendar each language uses by default, not the Hijri, Hebrew or Ethiopian calendar.
- It has no custom pattern like DD/MM/YYYY: it uses the four lengths each language defines.
Questions people ask
How do I show the date on my desktop?
Add the Date widget to your DashSuey board and keep the board open in a browser tab. The date is there in large type with the weekday above it. There's nothing to install and no extension.
Can it show the date in another language?
Yes. In the widget's settings, pick a language and region; the date and the weekday are then written the way that language writes them, with its own month names, word order and digits. Left on Auto, it follows your browser's language.
Can it show the day of the week?
Yes, by default: the weekday sits above the date. The Full format writes it into the date itself.
What formats can it show?
Four: Short, Medium, Long and Full. Each language has its own version of each, so English (UK) puts the day first where English (US) puts the month first. Try them at the top of this page.
Is the date based on my time zone?
Yes. It reads your computer's clock and time zone, so a laptop in Tokyo shows Tokyo's date.
When does the date change?
At midnight on your computer. It checks on the minute, so the new date is there as the clock turns over.
Will it look the same on my other computers?
Yes. The format, the language and the weekday switch are saved to your DashSuey account with the rest of your board, so they are there on every computer you sign in on. The date itself is always the local date of the computer you are on.
Can it show the Hijri, Hebrew or Ethiopian date?
No. It shows the calendar each language uses by default in your browser, which for almost all of them is the Gregorian calendar.
Why is the date on my computer wrong?
The widget shows your computer's own date, so if the widget is wrong, the computer's clock or time zone is. Fix it in the computer's date and time settings and the widget follows.
