Count Up, example: a 41-day streak
Count up from any date, on every computer you use
Pick a start date and time, and Count Up shows how long it has been in days, hours, minutes and seconds, ticking live. It sits on your DashSuey board, so the same count is there on every computer you sign in on.
- Needs
- A start date and time
- Reads from
- Your computer's own clock and time zone
- Updates
- Every second while the tab is showing
On your board, next to the rest of your day
A count up beside the clock, the year in dots and a countdown to Friday evening: how long since one thing, and how long until the next. The board is saved to your account, so it looks the same on every computer you sign in on.

Date
Every tile here is live, worked out in your browser. The count up is an example that started 41 days before you opened this page.
What you can set
- Start date
- A date and a time, to the minute. The count starts from that moment.
- Label
- Your own words over the numbers, like Running streak. Leave it blank for no label.
- Hours, minutes, seconds
- Choose what follows the days: days only, or add hours, then minutes, then seconds.
- Short spans
- Under a day it always shows hours and minutes, and under an hour, minutes and seconds.
- Days
- Calendar days in your own time zone. The day number goes up at the clock time you started from, every day, daylight saving included.
- A date ahead
- Pick a start that has not come yet and it says when it starts counting.
- Where it lives
- On your board, saved to your account, and the same on every computer you sign in on.
Where the count comes from
Count Up works it out on your own computer, from its clock and time zone, once a second while the tab is showing. Nothing is sent anywhere, and there is no server keeping time.
Google will tell you how many days it has been since a date, once. The widget keeps counting on the board you open every morning, next to everything else you check.
What it does not do
- It counts days, hours, minutes and seconds. It doesn't show weeks, months or years.
- It has no milestones, badges or reminders.
- There's no reset button. Change the start date instead.
- It isn't a stopwatch: there's no start, pause or lap.
Questions people ask
What is a count up timer?
A timer that counts forward instead of down. DashSuey's Count Up counts from a date and time you pick, so it shows how long it has been since then in days, hours, minutes and seconds. It isn't a stopwatch; there's no start, pause or lap button.
How do I count up from a date?
Add a Count Up widget, pick the start date and time, and give it a label if you like. The count starts straight away and keeps running.
What is the difference between a countdown and a count up?
A countdown runs toward a date and stops there. A count up runs from a date and keeps growing. DashSuey has both: Count Down for a date ahead, Count Up for a date behind you.
Can it show just the days?
Yes. The Hours, Minutes and Seconds buttons choose what follows the days, so it can show days only. Under a day it always shows hours and minutes, and under an hour, minutes and seconds.
Will my count be on my other computers?
Yes. The start date, the label and the units are saved to your DashSuey account with the rest of your board, so the count is there on every computer you sign in on. Each computer works it out on its own clock and in its own time zone.
Can I keep a days since counter on my desktop?
Open your DashSuey board in a browser tab and the counter is there, beside your other widgets. DashSuey is a web page you sign into, so there's nothing to install and no extension.
Can I have more than one?
Yes. Each Count Up holds one date, so add one for each thing you count, each with its own label.
When does the day number go up?
At the clock time you started from, every day. It counts calendar days in your own time zone, so a start at midnight goes up at midnight, even across a daylight saving change.
What happens if I pick a date in the future?
It says when it starts counting and waits. For a date ahead, Count Down counts to it.
